Each mission, be it a holding pattern, radial interception, DME arc, or two needle tracking, is randomly created. You can challenge yourself with random repositioning to make sure you really got it nailed.

A lot of times, however, a student pilot wants to prepare a particular procedure, which is to be expected during training or a check flight. Each mission type can be edited easily and quickly.
